Slight cold start problem: how is this for a troubleshooting plan?

2000 Disco II, 64k miles. I did the 60k last November which included OEM plugs and wires.

Recently during morning start-ups the engine would fire, turn over and "stumble" for a moment before revving up fully to life. The stumble only lasted 1 second or less and it would sound like it was close to stalling, but never would.

This might not be a "problem" for many people, but it is different behavior than what I am used to.

In addition, during my normal driving, it feels like I have to depress the accelerator a bit more than I used to. Not sure if this is true or not, but I certainly feel like I'm giving it more gas. I've never tracked my fuel economy so nothing to compare to.

I've done some preliminary research and think the culprit could be: a leaky/fouled fuel injector, a clogged fuel filter, failing fuel pump, blocked fuel check valve. I plan to check the following:
1. Get a 1/8" NPT pressure gauge and check fuel pressure. If pressure drops after the rig is off or does not come up to spec, I may have a leaky injector.
2. Pull the plugs and look for signs of fouling.
3. Replace fuel filter...ok, this one has me scratching my head: is there a fuel filter on a DII? I've seen some conflicting reports and can't find a replacement "fuel filter" on my usual Rover parts sites.
4. Check the check valve for the fuel line/pump.

Anything else the brains would add, or do differently? Does it sound like I am addressing the correct items given the symptoms? Thanks dweb.
