so, I have a 2000 DII with 108..

I have a clear valley gasket leak, the back of the block is NASTY gummed up with both oil and coolant..

the other day, I lost a TON of coolant, and it seems to be in the oil pan because I checked the oil today, and it is half way up the dip stick, and the oil looks very dark grey.

Luckily, i only seem to have put only like 30 miles on it when I discovers the symptoms, and the truck is running fine, and no stinky smoke, no sweet smells..

with all that being said, i assume the valley gasket is gone, and I *think* the head gasket since so much coolant is going into the oil pan some how (am I right on this judgement??)

So do you guys think I should just drop the truck off at my local off-roading shop, and say "fix these gaskets, and just tear most of it appart and get her into good shape"??

I figure get the timing chain done, the coils, valley gasket, head gasket

what else (assuming that the head gasket is indeed the issue)

thanks for any input!!!

Maybe it would be better to drop it off and ask them to tell you what all is wrong. Given what you've described, you might be well advised to spend a few hundred dollars on diagnosis and fix what they find.

It is unlikely the coils are in need of replacement, but the cam chain and gears is always good idea if you have many miles on the truck. There are many other "While you're in there" things as well, like water pump, hoses, etc.

so you think it could be something other than a head gasket?? filled oil pan? Guess you're right, making an appointment monday..

I just have that gut feeling that "now is the time" to drop cash into the power house of my baby ;)

I am sure I will post the diagnosis and ask questions then!! ;)

thanks!
