I have a question regarding shock towers. I am replacing the suspesion on my 89 RRC, and I am going to change the shock towers out for new parts. Will original spec towers fit the OME shocks or do I need to change them? and another question, does anyone know of better aftermarket towers or are the original specs tough enough? Thanks in advance for any help.

I replaced my shock towers on my 92 RRC with stock originals when I went with OME springs and shocks, no fitment problems. You might also want to get new shock tower rings and nuts, as you will probably twist a couple right off. I have had no problems with the stock shock towers and its had lots of use and abuse. However if you want something really stout have a look at these:

keep in mind

The Scorpion racing mounts are 2 inches lower and you might unseat the spring. They make cones for the front too but you will also need extended brake lines. You can buy regular size cones or tall cones from MJ Lee but not sure where to buy there stuff now. Gordo

Thanks Guys for the help. I dont know if I like the idea of cones etc. If the original towers will work then I'll go with those. Again thanks for the help, it's always appreciated.

The SR towers come in -2" (7 1/4" tall), stock height (9 1/4" tall) and +2" (12" tall). Depending on what spring and shock combo you run will determine if the front springs will unseat. Best to undo the bottom shock mount and flex your truck then take some measurements to be sure. Then do the same with and w/o the sway bars attached (keep a close eye on your brake lines while doing this :D ).
