That looks exactly like my welder, except I have a nicer cart (went way overboard building it, pure welding bling), and my welding helmet is color matched to my truck.

I'd be interested to know what you do for the fill plug, and if you think the project is do-able without removing the axels.

I did another sewer cap today.

Instead for welding it, could you just fabricate a bracket so that it's not so permanant?

I love my mig jig also, but I don't go around looking at things to weld anymore.

But there was this beautiful field of parking meters I once saw.......

???

not being welded on would defeat the purpose. the cap replaces the stock diff cover completely-you cut off the old one and replace it with a pipe cap.

Why, to make it stick out even more?

I understand you are making a larger resovoir (Spell check?) and increasing the crunch zone, but why not just create some other layer of armor?

Look, if it works, great. I would however invest in re-engineering a jeep axle truss and weld the shit out of that. I know armor is no excuse for poor trail skills, but shit happens. Hell, shit happens on the trail if you drive like Bill Burke.

I assume you also have to modify the panhard rod to clear, right?

If you do a write up, please don't call it a sewer cap. It's not a sewer cap, it's a weld-on pipe cap.

Call a spade a.....shovel? .............

.........it's a sewer pipe cap!

Did Steve do this write-up? Did I miss it somewhere?

I wasn't getting much interest. I'll get something done when i get back from my trip. I'm in Denver right now at the base of the mountains. I'm so excited to get in there with a slow ass Rover minus sway bars.
