Anyone put a 109 Body on a RRC chassis? I plan on doing so but would like some pointers, such as lining up firewall to chassis, also using RRC steering columb with series firewall/bulkhead. I have a LWB "108" RRC chassis as a donor. searches didnt help much....Thanks...Pat

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately it says the DVD will not work in U.S. region!
You should be able to use it on your computer. If not right away, I believe I found some programs on a quick search awhile back that can be downloaded to allow it.

edit: here's the first thing that popped up on a search.

The same thing happened to me. I emailed the admin and apparently all the spam they were getting was from gmail addresses, so they banned them all. He lifted the ban for a couple hours and I was able to register. Good luck.

Hey Pat, built a hybrid last year. Its an 88 though. The LWB chassis is probably way too short so youre either going to have to extend it, move the axle back somehow or shorten the tub a bit to make it work. My buddy built a 109 hybrid but used a 110 chassis and that worked out but not w/o typical body swap issues. Heres a link to my project...mostly photos.
Oh yeah and get the video a4x4isborn. I watched it on my cpu well worth the money.

Some pointers that will help.
The body has to be lifted a couple inches to clear the hump in the chassis.

The series outriggers will work fine although i had to trim mine on the bottom a bit. They pretty much will butt right up against the front trailing arm mount on the chassis.

If you decide to use a D90 front hood/grill (or extend the series breakfast/hood) you can leave the drivetrain right where it sits. Otherwise its going to have to shift back several inches...then the steering box is likely going to be in the way, the oil filter will need to be relocated, new brackets for the engine, etc.

string works very well for aligning body panels btw.

I'd recommend mocking the entire body, just spot welding everything in place as you go.

The tank, if its under the seat, will need to be modified.

I used a D90 steering wheel/column and bought a universal rod (flaming river aluminum steering shaft) with rover ends

ebay.co.uk is your friend, but ask before you buy as some are funny about shipping to us

D90 radiator or shortened RRC rad...I used the D90 one...got it off ebay and eliminated the engine oil cooler and ran a remote trans cooler

Lastly its a big project, not to try and talk you out of it but to do it right will take some dedication and time. Youll obviously need a good mig welder and some half ass fab skills. Heres a bunch of photos of mine to give you an idea of what it takes. Again, Im not an expert this is backyard engineering at its finest. Gordo
