So I was bored yesterday and went to the scrap yard and loaded up on a bunch of miscellaneous metal. This is what I came up with so far. I do not have a winch yet so I have not built the winch box. It is in still unfinished shape and I am going to build a brush guard onto the bumper. I am going to use weld water pipe for the guard so I do not have to rent a bender. It's my first bumper build so be easy.

don't use water pipe, that will make it look ghetto. Just stop by a fab shop, have them bend two bends. Will not cost much, then you can take it home and cut the ends to find the angle you want. looks good though

dont mean to thread jack, but what size pipe / tube are you going to be using. I built a bumper as well but after it was done, I didn't realize how small of a gap I left between the front grill and the nose of the bumper.

Scott.

PS - looks really good!

Good point on the ends. I am planning on cutting the arch of the fender in the ends. I duplicated the stock mounts with thicker steel. I am going to use 1" weld together pipe. The fittings come in tons of different angles and after you weld them it looks like a piece of bent tubing. I have to do a lot of grinding to the welds to smooth them out and the trim the headlight trim pieces a tad to fit them back in. I have about $50 bucks in this thing and it is mainly chop saw blades, cut off wheels, and mig wire and $6 worth of steel.

here it is basically finished. I have to get a winch before I make the winch box.

very nice. Did you end up sticking with that 1" pipe?

Yes I used the weld together 1" pipe and fittings. I can not remember the proper name but the pipe is for sprinklers. It is a little less than a 1/4 thick. I just used 2 90s and 2 60s.

I did not bend it. They are the weld together sprinkler fittings. 2x 60 degrees and 2x 90 degrees. I love the stuff. After welding them on I just sanded down the welds (no grinding) and then they look like a solid piece and bombproof.
