i went to get my engine cleaned on dec 13. its been running rough ever since. first day i got it back it ran really rough. next day slightly better. I let it sit until yesterday due to the holidays. I start her up and she is still running rough.
granted its been rainning in so call for two weeks, but i figured it would have dried out by now. I drove the hell out of it today and yesterday for about 40 mins still no big improvement.. slight improvement though.
what should i check (besides cap and rotor plugs and wires- already been done) the injectors?

thanks much

If its a D1, Sometimes water runs down the wires into the plug on the ecu. Pull the plugs and make sure there dry. My ecu was wet also so I pulled it apart and dried it out with a can of compressed air ment for computers.

(did a search and didnt find anything new) so i have checked just about everything i know of...distributor, plugs, wires, mAF, various random connections and everything appears to be dry. truck is running much better today, but still running a little rough especially when going slow. any thoughts on what else should be checked would be great.
its been two weeks of this...
Re: ecu its my understanding that it is behind the glove box. is this correct?

I washed my engine bay and after it ran really rough. I found out that a couple of vacuum hoses came loose. After putting them back on all was well again. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Its a 95, the ECM is inside the cab on the passenger side kick panel under the plastic cover.

You guys are thinking 96+

The spark and fuel are seperate systems, but the fuel is triggered off the coil like an aftermarket tachometer so if spark fails it won't get fuel. If its misfiring you need to check spark first, then proceed to fuel.

try borrowing or buying an inductive timing light... hook it up to each of the plug wires and see if one of them is consistently missing or not firing at all.

You might want to pony up for a new (genuine) cap and rotor, and see if that fixes your problem. Even if it doesn't you'll need a cap and rotor sooner or later, so it's not a wasted purchase. I've heard that the old genuine (lucas) is no longer "genuine"... maybe one of the vendors can chime in?

You might also try drying out the distributor cap and rotor with a hair dryer. when removing the rotor, make sure you do a search on this site first and read about the heartbreak that can happen when not removing it properly... it should come off with a gentle pull.
