One of the moderators of this BBS owns Roversolutions. The Backpack rack is a newly introduced product and Kyle (the owner) offered an introductory deal to anyone who got in on the first batch.

This first batch as I understand it is in the final phase of completion/delivery. (including one for me!) :D

As far as I know the regular price for a Backpack rack has not yet been announced.

Kyle may chime in on this thread, but he is up to his arse with maintenance on this site and Roversolutions work so I can't say for sure.

Cheers,

Shawn

Hey Shawn. I am from Calgary as well.

I got in touch with Kyle and will get the rack from him next month (gotta wait just a bit as the "WAF" * is a little low just now). She thinks I should pick a hobby and stick to it

Just this month I bought a couple new computers and then had some lower end work done and put an electronic ignition on my old BMW motorcycle. :D

Did you figure out how much UPS was going to charge to get the rack here?

I ordered a $65.00 part from somewhere in middle America last week and when it came (ground) UPS charged me a $29.00 brokers fee. I had pre-paid the freight, so this was just for "paperwork".

The UPS shaft is inconsistent- sometimes painful sometimes OK.

I don't remember exactly, but Kyle quoted me something reasonable. The issue was he needed to take ~1" off the overall length to get under the next size price.

I'll sacrifice an inch on a rack to save $50 on shipping!

We should hook up sometime to go wheeling. Wanna come to Moab with us May 7-18?

Kevin,

Your rig is great. I have new appreciation for the TJM bumper after seeing your truck. It looks as if you have lifted your truck. How big was the lift? I'm getting ready to throw some bucks at my Disco and have decided on OME but was debating lift amount. I have 04 G4 and think it would look great with a bumper land lift like yours. Seems well proportioned.

I have a college buddy who lives in Cliffton Park who I owe a visit this may or June. I'd like to buy you a cup of coffee and tell war stories if you have time. Maybe a trip to AB?

Thanks for your reply on lifts,
Joel

Thanks Joel, I'll post another photo tommorrow now that the CB antenna is on the bumper as well as Hella Micro DE Work Lights. The lift is OME 779's and 781's with N107 and N108 shocks, the "standard 1.5-2" lift" no driveline problems or loss of self centering. The wheels are 16" LR alloys that I bought second hand and mounted the 245/75-16 MTR's. Look me up if you are coming through town, I'd like to see your G4.

Thanks for the length hint. I will keep that in mind.

Moab? No, not likely this year ... but I "may run into you"* at Waiparous from time to time :D

Joel and Figman,

Additional photos as promised, now with 3 ft Firestick on the TJM tab and Hella Micro DE Projector Worklights. Everything is all wired up now including the rear socket for always on cold beer.
