:smilelol: been there, done that.

i started with bungees (yikes, i know). I upgraded to some large velcro straps made by Husky. they double as tie down points when its packed up.

i hear ya. i have some racket straps that i always keep on my rack to strap it down now. honestly though, i'm going to keep it on the ground until spring/summer i think. unless my logic is completely out of whack, i'm thinking it'll be colder up there in the stratosphere where i'll be if i put it up on my disco this season.

EDIT: just watched the video and now i want some of those! or just some nice, thick velcro straps in general

You need HD bungee's...they even hold up my spare tire :p

My vote is for the "Chicken Shit" flooring; mine has been on my SD rack for about four years now, and while a bit oxidized on the surface it's still going strong. Mine is secured with heavy-duty reusable cable ties; this makes removing the panels a simple operation. Try to track down the UV resistant variety, which last longer; Fastenal is one source for them if all else fails.
For what it's worth, here's my take on securing stuff to the rack: secure stuff to the rack, not the flooring. For me that meant cutting some strategically located slots in the flooring grid to allow straps and such to be fastened to the tubes of the rack. For heavy stuff (fuel and water cans, etc.), I gotta go with ratchet straps, or over-center cam buckles. To complete the whole ensemble, I really like the large Raingler net, (modified with flat snap-hooks and heavy-duty s-hooks on the rack) which will help keep your stuff in the same vicinity as your truck should the unthinkable happen and you roll it or dump it on its side.

Does anyone with the full floor willing to share some pics? ( I am more concern with the slanted section.
I have read about the HD zip ties, I can't remember where, but sometime ago I have seen ties that were at least 3/8" thick, any ideas?
Also did anyone cut holes to use the cross bars for tie down points?
All help / input will be greatly appreciated

P.S. I have ordered the panels already.

Muskyman,

Thanks for the reply. I have looked over and over, but I don't seem to find a particular on the mid section, and the ties.
I will re-read it, ( after some coffee )

I just went to lowes/home depot and bought the strongest zip ties they had. I put a ton of them on there though and they lasted about 2 years before some of them started to break because they had gotten brittle by the sun. Michaels gave me the extra he had from doing the slant and I didn't really realize how faded the rest of the flooring had gotten until I put the new stuff up there for the slant. I will try to post a pic later. Either way though, for the money you can't beat it.

3/8" King Starlite Marine board is about the same price and is UV resistant. If someone is considering the chicken coop flooring, they should also look into the marine board.

Found it, DISCONOMAD has a pretty in depth explanation of the slanted section.

Muskyman thanks again for the wake up call.

Ryan, thanks for the link.

Will also check Lowe's and TSC ( they very close by )

Thanks to all again

One thing I did when installing mine was to heat the section where it bends with a propane torch to soften it slightly to make it bend and conform more easily.

so that is like plastic cutting boards like lrflip is referring to? It would be nice to have the ease to slide stuff around up there and that it is UV resistant, but my clumsy ass would be scared to walk on it haha. Would it be slick to walk on? The chicken flooring held three of us up there as well as a cooler of beer at talladega this year!
