Replacement Sunroofs

As many, if not all, of you who have sunroofs know, there comes a time when they need repairing. Instead of repairing the tracks and/or replacing the motors, has any one just yanked them out and installed manual pop-up sunroofs? I enjoy the additional light and ventilation, but might it would be cheaper to just replace the electrical ones with manual versions.

Sounds like a good plan.... I guess the next step would be to check with a local installer (easiest way) and find out if it can be done or not. I know I would love to have a set of sun roofs that work properly.... I hate the idea of spending $200+ to fix the two that I have just so they can wear out again.
