Recommendation for a snow tire (tyre)?

2005 LR3. Any good ideas for a snow tire (tyre)? We live in a snowy, mountainous, hilly, rugged, dirt road location. Must be studded but would be curious about non studded opinions. Previously, I've used Nokian Hakkapeliittas with the eco studs. Worked great. Didn't last. Actually, none of the tires we've had on the LR3 have lasted (2 sets of Goodyear Eagles (which are crappy tires anyway), a set of Pirelli Zeros, and the Nokians. Here is a mud season picture (the LR3 is behind the Honda. I had to use my 95 Disco I to pull the Honda out of the way). We have a 91 RRC -- the Nokian Hakkapeliittas were great on both older vehicles but the LR3 didn't like them. The alignment seems right and I've had it checked. We had some front bearing wear so maybe that contributed? Will

On the LR3Tips website, the Recommended Tires thread has some comments about these two tires:

- Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow
- Wintrac 4 Extreme

I have no experience with either, but you can read the discussion thread on that site, and also check out this link: http://forums.landroverworld.org/showpost.php?p=61393&postcount=16

There is also a really nice tire compilation site for LR3's at Johnson Rods:
http://johnsonrods.com/johnson_rods_2_004.htm

Good luck. If you find something that works for you, please post up a comment at LR3tips!

Iam in VT also.
We currently using the Michelin X-ice on my wifes CRV.
Using the Michelin Latitude Alpin on her Range Rover.
Both are unstudded.
used as dedicated snows they last 3 seasons.
We do not have the dirt commute that you seem to have, the Alpin is a much more open pattern than the X-ice.
The closed, heavily siped pattern of the X-ice and the Arctic ALpin we just took off seem to work really well on pavement.
