Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem . . .the dark film covering the mirror (to adjust it to bright light, I assume) has begun to melt and now I have a dark spot in the middle of my mirror where the film is yet to melt. Has anyone had this happen before?

Your rearview is toast.......

A '03 Impala has the exact same rearview mirror. You should be able to find one easy.

Autodim, with dual maplights. I got mine for about $55 at a local yard.

yeah i loved the mirror until that happened. and they're way too damn expensive to replace new. a friend of mine has a 97 jag with the exact same mirror, it did the same thing too. i think lucas made them. that would explain why its broke.

Problem with non-Rover mirror is the mounting block. A good glass guy wil remove your old one and glue on a new one. I got my mirror on Ebay. Gentex, Homelink, auto dim, map/interior lights, temp and compass. The whole thing was under $100 with the temp sensor. The wiring is easy, most of it is right under the cover forward of the sunroof.

Mine seperated ~7 months ago. Its quite blurry, but I'm too lazy to get a new one and I've adjusted.
