I've got at QT front diff guard with the two little tabs to weld on. Just wondering if anybody has any advice on how to do this. The OCD engineer in me wants to remove the axle, drain the fluid, grind off the paint, turn the weld horizontal, and do a nice TIG weld. :smilelol:
Should the fluid be drained? Not sure about the heat getting to it. Also not sure how my 180 amp TIG would work on a 1/4" tab. And I know I've never done a vertical weld before.
Either that, or I take it to work and have our welder do it. We have a large MIG welder at work. Just would prefer to do it at home if possible.
