If you look at the facts, it's just a bunch of grandstanding liberals, and scared conservatives, trying to set themselves apart from bush with his ratings so low at the current time. The deal would not change anything, the ports are already owned by a british company(and britain has been a harbor for terrorists also). The ports will still be secured by port authorities and homeland security overlooking it. just my .02, other opinions welcome. Cheers.

Of course nothing will change just who owns it, just a funny collection of pictures. I had more but they weren't as funny as these.

What would the news be covering if it weren't for the port deal?

Man runs over students with SUV to punish gov't.

ooohh , so much paranoia and mis-information.!! This is the ONLY time I agree with Bush.
This is interesting-
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4779898.stm

"In the past 18 months alone, UAE based companies have bought a $2bn stake in Time Warner, a $1bn stake in DaimlerChrysler, a $700m hotel in New York, the port assets of America's CSX Corporation and a 25% stake in a Canadian aluminium smelter."

Hmmm, I would have thought that the CSX assets would have made a bigger stink then this port deal.. I guess most folks don't know just how many "assets" that really is. If they're in there doing CSX then they already have 1/5 to 1/4 of the port what's wrong with the other 3/5 - 4/5? CSX is big and every where not just the ports that everyone is worried about. Not to mention that there almost isn't an area in the USA that has a train track that a CSX train doesn't use. Take the container off the boat, put it on the train, send it on it's way.. Isn't that what everyone is worried about? Well, looks like they are already going to be doing that anyways.

And of course GW didn't.

It just goes to show how complicated all these problems are, and how no single side really has the answers.

Chuck Shumer was one of the most vocal critics of the Dubai Ports deal. But he and his ilk would scream bloody murder if you accused them of being racist! "Why, that's impossible, we're liberals!"

Opportunism has clearly trumped idealism or even practicality.

As Mark says, the end result is that the Arab world has yet another reason to be pissed off at us.
