How do you end up measuring the two swivels to get them at the exact same amount of correction?

take it to an alignment shop and have a 4way done on the vehicle
this will measure the 4 wheel alignment for your panhard bar (when you do an adjustable panhard)
and castor for your swivels
the print out will have a right side reading and a left side reading
from those readings Steve would be ablr to correctly re index your swivel balls to stock specs.
without looking i want to say stock castor is 3.0 to 3.75 degrees (based on my alingment machine program.

i think i get ians question.

when you are installing the swivels back in afer they have been slotted and redrilled. how do you make sure the right side and left sides are indexed the same amount?

i was assuming that that you recieved the balls back with the a universal type correction done. and once you get them you set it while reinstalling, by taking some kind of measurement.

oh i got ya, it's actually pretty easy to tell the difference between the two.
i used a magnetic angle finder placed on the top of the swivel ball. the reading should be about 3 degrees for both sides.
also, the balls will be machined as a mirror set so they will clock the same direction in relation to the vehicle. you'll want both swivel balls to rotate towards the back of the vehicle.
(drivers side to rotate clockwise, passengers side to rotate counter clockwise)

at this point there is no universal correction.
Steve will be doing these one off for specific vehicles. perhaps if this catches on a universal would be faster. but as of now they are by request only.

yeah, given with the fact that we can lose all of 3 degrees of caster and not suffer severely, it doesn't look like 1 deg of error between the balls will be too bad. Magnetic finder will work just fine.

Hmmm...that would worry me. Cast iron is brittle, not something you want banging into rocks.
Anybody who's done extensive house renovation working alone knows that the easiest way to get one of those old 200lb cast iron bathtubs from the the 3rd floor is to take a couple whacks at it with a sledge hammer and take it down in pieces.
