Just tried to get a sunroof motor for a Disco today and found it's no longer available . List price for a set of catalytic converters is almost $5700 . Window lift ecu also not available any longer . Both parts also not available new from Rovers North . Last time I tried to get a ecm for a gems Disco somebody wanted like $1700 for it .

its simple math really.

Whats the best way to ensure the new rover image isnt tarnished? Stop supporting the turds.

A lot has to do with demand. If the demand isnt there a company isnt going to spend much capital to have inventory sitting on the shelf only to be counted come tax time.

Rover has had some issues lately just supporting much newer vehicles. We had to tell a customer it would take a couple months for front brake pads on his RR last summer. Had a customer waiting 2 months last winter while his rr sport was at the body shop....go figure the dashboards were on back order.

you drive one of the finest hand crafted luxurious imported sport utility vehicles built by one of the finest automobile manufacturers on the planet and expect these exquisite state of the art parts to be readily available???😂

I totally agree seventyfive . Just last week I had a customer wanted an ignition switch put in his BMW Range Rover cause it wouldn't turn. We both know its the steering column ECU . They must be down to just a handful of steering columns cause the list price on that column is silly now . Last summer they where up to $4600 , now almost double that . They sold the rights to the 4.2 / 4.4 Jag engine as soon as the 5.0 hit the street in 2010 .

So what did you tell that person? Were they SOL? Did you find a used replacement? Seems like with a $5000 part the truck is pretty much throw away at that point.

ITS PROBABLY A GOVERNMENT CONSPIRACY.

Obama will is still doing his clunker campaign. And the tree huggers know if they can stop the parts being made for 4x4's no one will be four wheeling anymore. So they smash all the old cars and melt them down. Soon there won't be any old car parts and we will all be driving Prius cars.

I am of course kidding, maybe

Don't forget that there is still a very busy parts market in the UK, so many parts are still available from old dealer stock or vehicle breakers.

We are always ready to help out sourcing parts if folks get stuck. The only problem is postage costs which can be scary for heavy stuff. I brought over two rear leaf springs and a bumper (fender) for our friend in California last trip in September, probably going to do the same next trip in February :D

Sorry I haven't been on the forum much lately, very busy with the Mercedes bus conversion and also have a heart issue which is looking like an operation in the new year :(

I get a report weekly of parts that have been discontinued-even from the aftermarket sources.

Just try to find a PAS hose for an EAS RRC.

Sad really.

Good luck with the heart issue. I have 2 stents and I'm due for a pacemaker pretty quick. The stents were EZ. I hear the pacemaker isn't a real big deal either.
