OME Lift - EE style?

What are your all's thoughts on buying an OME HD lift with "matched" springs as EE sells them vice buying a regular OME factory set from other vendors with different sized springs for DS and PS? I am in the market for a set of 779 and 762 and would appreciate any feedback you all have, especially from those with this setup.

How much lean is produced by the unmatched set and how long does that lean take to settle and level out?

Thanks.

I bought my stuff 779 front 781 rear from Expedition Exchange. I was going to go with the 762's on the back, but for me it seemed over-kill. Depending on how you use your Disco it might be just right for you.

Shocks and springs shipped to the house was a little under $800 and took about 5 days to get to me. The install was easy enough by myself on the front. The rear I had to get a friend to give me a hand with as I couldn't get enough clearance using a bottle jack between the frame and rear axle to put em in without removing/disconnecting the brake lines. I had loaned out my coil spring compressor several months before and it hasn't made it home yet so my friend used a pry bar to partially compress the springs and I put em in. If I'd of had the coil spring compressor it would have been a one man job.

get them matched unless you want to sport the gangsta lean....there will be some that will post after me and swear their rovers are level but that is just because they have a leg length discrepancy ;)

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I guess my question would be why does OME offer different sized springs if it doesn't level out?

LOL cause Aussies are just crazy that way.

The difference between stock and what I have now is night and day. "a bit stiffer, but feels a ton more capable" It was worth every penny. It does sit pretty much level. It might make a couple of squillionths of an inch difference in the back to use the 762's as opposed to the 781's

You lot all drive from the passengers seat. :D

In Aus the road camber is the opposite to what you have and the driver sits on the correct side of the vehicle. Also the driveline is offset a bit too, more notably in the TD5 which I dont think came in the NAS spec jiggers. If the springs are not handed then the Disco settles with a low drivers side (ie the RHS). We run the long springs on the RHS.

My "matched" EE springs leaned like mad, my matched RTE springs lean even worse. The reason OME makes the springs different is to correct the lean that matched springs create.

EE matched springs here, no lean... go to advance auto or similar and rent a spring compressor (its free, you buy or put a deposit on it, and then return it after for a refund)...

Last time I saw you, Max, you didn't look like you could make a dent in a HD spring :)
Must be all that web-wheeling.

I bought unmatched springs. I measured them before installing, and the difference from side to side was nowhere near what's been reported, closer to 1/4" than a full inch. There is no visible lean to the truck. I measured after installing, and the difference side to side is something like 1/8", it's actually difficult to measure it's so small, and I'm not even sure if that's on the side with the taller springs or what.

On my D2, it's a complete non-issue.

Looks like EE is the way to go than. Amazing how you can get completely different perspectives on this.

Thanks for the input from all.

How come you didn't just take the caliper off?

doh :banghead:

excuse time.

1. None of the 11 voices in my head at the time mentioned it?

2. Musky was pointing his bald spot at a sattelite that reflected into my eyes and I didn't see it.

3. I was lonely

4. I blame the guy who came to help me and didn't think of it either.

Good call man, Thanks

Yeah, but I've gained like 4lbs since then, I'm up to a solid 163 now:D I did finally put the wheels I bought from you on a few weeks ago too.

My truck leans to the driver's side, doubt it's because of my fat ass, as it leans just as bad front and rear, and I put heavy stuff in the passenger side rear, I guess the streets around here are extra peaked or something. I pulled the rears when I was cycling the suspension to mount limit-straps a few weeks ago and the driver's side rear was about an inch shorter, will have to see what's going on with the fronts when I pull them for coil-overs.

None of it effects the ride, just has that gangsta stance.
