Ditto Jacquelyne! Great pictures...the Ophir Pass pictures look like you can just walk down those slopes...the photographs don't give a true sense of depth. The Imogene Pass pictures show the sheer drop offs. My wife and I considered running Imogene Pass and Ophir Pass when we were there in October, 2004. I'm glad we didn't! Probably would have been a little slippery.

Thanks!

Ophir/Imogene ran together make for an awesome full day. Ophir is so easy and short, and to quote a gentleman who was in my group on day one "This is just a road!". It's too short to be ran by itself, but is a great pre-cursor to Imogene for those that aren't familiar with driving at altitude. Even when wet the shelf roads on Imogene offer great traction- it really looks deceiving. Snow, OTOH, could make things more interesting. It's the rock/mud slides after heavy storms that have me worried most. You should do the drive at least once!

Great, now that we are back out west, we may just get up there and drive it. We stayed in Ouray for a week when we were out there. Ended up spending most of our time in Telluride. Probably because we absolutely loved the drive from Ridgeway to Telluride on Last Dollar Road. Telluride was fun too...HA!

Great picture of the Black Bear switchbacks and Bridal Veil falls from Imogene! We were supposed to go back to Ouray via Imogene the day we came down Black Bear, but ran out of time. I look forward to doing Imogene perhaps next year. Thanks for posting.

Great shots! We did Black Bear but were disapointed by the lack of chalenging terrain although the views were stunning. I guess it doesn't always have to be about body damage.....

Michelle and I just got back and got our photos organized. Here is a link to our LRNR trip from Vancouver to Montrose, Taos, santa Fe, Paige AZ, Reno, Cali and finally the Oregon coast.
