oh, okay....did you do it yourself or had a shop do it? It seems like a PITA to get to, but then I assume is a plug and play install job, uh?
did you go through all the usual (switch, relay, hose, pump, etc...) only to end up working off elimination process? it seems that I only have 2 components left to check, and I don't know of a way to "check" the ECU or the spiral cassette....thanks again

I did it myself and it was plug and play. Things are a little cramped in there but if you have hands and arms the size of an infant, you're in luck! Yes, it was an elimination game. When I got to the ECU, I used a multimeter and checked things at the ECU plug. Everything checked out while in the garage, so we hit the road. While my wife drove I checked the VSS signal(OK) and then found no power out to the pump when trying to set. This was almost two years ago so my memory may be faulty. Hope this helps.

I went through all the steps, checking all the switches and so on. I couldn't remove the old cruise ECU with the amount of time and patience I had, so I just left the old one in there and crammed the new ECU in the same general area.

The new ECU fixed my cruise control problem.

well, good to know....
I just bought the CC ECU and the spiral cassete from Will.
Hope I don't NEED the spiral, but will see. As usual Will extended a decent deal to us cheap bastard D-webbers....Will work on it Saturday am and I promise to return for a final update.

thank you guys for chiming in...:bangbang:

Hope all goes well, my CC is doing the same as yours! It'll engage for a while then kick off....let us know your results, and good luck!

I had to finally look under the air bag cover on the steering wheel and found that the wires had worn through its insulation and were making contact. Electrical tape around each wire and problem solved. 97 disco.

FINAL UPDATE....:applause: :victory:

Ok, after a few days of testing fuses, electrical items, relays, pumps, hoses, t-valves and plenty of cursing.....the ECU was bad. Continuity tests showed the ECU getting current from the switch (dash and wheel), but unable to "talk" to the pump up front. So, straight plug and play replacement -thank you Will Tillery, his parts ARE tested!-, and voila! cruise is working fine!

love my Disco again....
THANK YOU for all those who offered their opinions and past experience.

thats'a SMALL leak somewhere. Replace ALL 3 hoses ($9 @ AutoZone!), and check REAL good the actuator by the body throtle. The slow leak makes the cruise hold for a while and then giveout....not electrical or ECU. good luck.
