Transmission temperature

thanks dave any ideas what coses that?

I'd say the trans is too hot :D

Seriously, it is either that or the sender/wiring has failed.

Were you towing a heavy load or otherwise stressing the trans?

Check the fluid level and check to make sure the trans cooler is not blocked with snow/ice/leaves/mud/etc. If that all checks out then check the sensor, maybe someone here knows the diagnostics for that.

Depending on the year of the truck, it may have a sensor on the trans cooler/line and the t-box. Around '03 they stopped with the t-box sensor, but the wires are still there. Cooler sensor plugs in in front of the passenger top of the radiator D2, in the line drivers bottom of radiator D1.

Amazing, just today I swam my disco through about a mile of deep water on a hunting trip in the mountains and the transmission temp light came on. It must be something about the water. It's a 97 disco. How did you get the light to go out.

1st thing check for water in trans.
Sensor may also have water inside shorting out connections.
