Quick fix would be pulling the front DS. I drove Galens 94 SWB with a seized VC and it was really hard to turn, worse than mine was. He also snapped a front CV and destroyed the front ABS sensor...because of the VC.

That was the right CV and the left isn't far behind......pulling the ds helped a lot.

havent ever torn a rover VC apart but I have a number of the jeeps VC and they are rusted!!

you wouldent think that rust could be a issue inside a sealed VC but I saw it with my own eyes more then once. the jeep boxes demis would almost always be the same...the VC would lock up and driving the thing causes the chain to break.

I think environment must have alot to do with it. sealed parts are not always sealed when they go through huge temp swings, and if the fluid in the main part of the box is contaminated then you have potential for corosion.

... I wonder how long this one will last if it's only driven on snowy roads...
It'll probably handle better on snowy roads with it locked up. Should be fine until the sun shines. Be careful you don't blow a CV or a diff pin once you start chirpin'.
