Thanks.... but all at a cost;-) the year before last I broke a CV Carrier at MAR....CV's unlimited is still only doing axles and the actual innereds which helps, but there is always a weakest link. My profile has the 37" XZL's I had at the time. I currently have RTE's but the rear are second hand and I figured going with 5" instead of 3" with spacers would have to be better. Plus I have the spacers to play around with. The tires are great but its all the other factors that can play against you..being top-heavy etc. Even last year I used my winch a great deal! All in the name of fun. Any of you going to MAR this year? Follow me a time or two and we can all have a good laugh as I can still get stuck! I am so looking forward to this year!

Cool on the ARB's. I considered going that route but was worried about potential failure. Has yours held up? While I have consistently good mechanical wares, my electrical system is always burping when i least suspect it.

New HD CV's just came out from Ashcroft here for about a $1k. Check into them, I believe they come with a 5 yr warranty and were good to go with 35"+... As far as Air lockers Ive had mine for over a year with no problems.

I have had zero problems to date, knock on wood. One of my concerns was the electrical problems, so the solution for me was a 100% pneumatic system. The regulator on my power tank takes care of the pressure and the lines run directly to pneumatic switches in the heated seat switch location for each locker. I carry spare air line just in case of a leak and with zero electrics it is quite reliable. The other cool feature is I can now activate any combination of locker engagement including just the front if desired. Below is a link to the switches in case anyone wanted it.

sounds like you guys have it covered.....I will definitely consider those next time around.

I got the new 5" springs - rear installed with the 2" spacer...exactly what I was hoping for but I should have known better on the watts! Just put in an order from Steve on a new set of links for that. Hopefully the front won't me an issue but there are additional parts for that setup...

On another note...just read the roav.org page....I will be out on the trails when they are banging the drums;-)

I completely agree. I had the 2in before the 3, and I didn't change but the springs and shocks. Its not much more to go with the 3in. You will wish you had if you get the 2in.

Thanks for the compliments. and chuck thanks for the tires hahaha.. I need new ones

Reed, if you want new tires and money is an issue go with either the high tec retreads or the new Futura Mud Terrains at Pep Boys. The are a newer version of the old futura enforcer mt's with the 40k tread warranty but they have a much cooler design and they come in a 285. They are like 128 a pop.

Does anybody have pics of a 2" OME lift with standard hurricanes and tires (I wish I knew the size of my standard Goodyear tire, but my D2 is in the shop.) They are doing the air bellows to spring conversion, and I have to decise if I want to do the lift or whether my truck looks short to me because the bellows were bad...

I would just go with a 2" RTE lift from the beginning... skip OME. Oh and get the Bilsteins, the OME shocks it comes with arent long enough.

I am ordering my 2" RTE kit this week - why do you say Bilsteins? From all the chatter on the board about OME vs. Bilstein i thought OME was the safe bet? no?

They seem to bottom out too soon on lifts higher than the OME 2" (i.e. RTE 2"). Just my personal opinion. I helped put a 2" on leewalden truck this summer with the OME shocks and I think he wishes he'd gone with the 3" and at least the bilsteins but its up to you.

If I remember correctly, the stock size on 18 inch hurricanes is 255/55/18.

I think you will find that it will look too small. I have a 2 inch lift and had 245/75/16 which is an inch or so larger than stock and it looked way to small.

This is just a newb posting, but from what i've heard about the 245's, everyone's experience is that it looks far too small with a lift. I say go with 2" and see how it goes. If you want to go higher just get the spacer that Rovertym sells. Thats what i plan on doing cause i dont have enought money to go with the 3" lift AND tires. But then again that is just me and i am known to be wrong time to time! :D

Just for reference on what you can do with tire size... Lee walden and myself ran my 34/10.50 swampers on offset rims with his RTE 2" lift and had no problems. We did have to trim the plastic panels under the door though.

** The swampers are only about 32.8" tall

He forgot to add that I am running the RTE 2 inch and he has OME 3inch

haha yeah, if you don't trip the plastic sill guards, the lugs on swampers will just rip them off

I ordered mine (RTE 2" kit) today and asked this very question.. Rovertym told me the OME's are longer.. not the other way around.

So the 34x10.5 are the same height as my 255/85/16s? Hmmm.... If so I might get me a set and use my 255's as street tires and spares on the trail. Do the LTBs air down pretty good? The Truxus only air down to ~20psi before I start to spin the bead on the wheel.
