He cross axled it. He obviously doesn't know how all wheel drive works. Any moron could get that Freelander across that ditch, and most morons know better than to run up a mountain without knowing their vehicle's capabilities.

Cheers,

Open diff, no momentum, wheel in the air, slipery grass, recipie for stuck rig. The Freelander is not quite the off-roader that LR makes it out to be, but then agian a BMW 325i isn't the "Ultimate driving machine" either. That guy has owned it for 2 years and just now decides he doesn't like it, so he's suing because LR won't give him his money back, MORON!

does he have a 2wd or awd? has he taken any off-road driving classes? how much can I buy his house for?

Inquiring minds want to know!

I've seen freelanders take the dealership course with no problem with a soccer mom at the wheel. Not saying the dealership course is hard, but it's certainly harder than the grass knoll he was trying to tackle.

I think you guys are missing the point. LR is definitely overselling the capabilities of a Freelander (like any other manufacturer). The traction control should have stopped that wheel in the air and taken the little thing over - but it didn't!

That said... I would not buy a FL just to prove LR lying; if the guy bought it honestly for off-road prowess, good luck. I hope his suit is on a contingency basis!

Unless things have changed they don't allow lawyers to do anything in UK on a contingency basis. This dude has to pay by the hour, then hope he wins so he can pay the lawyer. If he loses he'll have to sell the house to pay the lawyer off.

Looks as if his ETC didn't work at all. Mine wouldn't have had that problem.
