The Land Rover Discovery has amassed an enviable reputation in off-road competitions and on expeditions worldwide. To commemorate these achievements, a specially prepared, limited-edition Discovery has been created for avid U.S. off-road enthusiasts. The Discovery XD is equipped with rugged Vehicle Kit to enhance its already formidable capabilities for carying people and equipment into the most remote environments. This special vehicle features an expedition-proven safari roof rack, brush bar and light guards, driving lights, skid plate, and black alloy wheels with mud + snow tires. The durable, comfortable cloth interior is protected from mud and debris by weatherproof seat covers and rubber floor mats. Like all Discoverys, the special-edition XD is equiped with a 4.0-liter aluminum-alloy V8 engine and permanent four-wheel drive with a dual-range transfer gearbox and locking center differential. A rugged four-speed automatic transmission provides smooth and responsive power delivery. Of course a dual airbag SRS is standard, as are four-channel all-terrain anti-lock disc brakes. And Discovery's rigid, boxed-steel frame and durable steel-and-aluminum body structure are designed to handle adventure travel under the most extreme conditions.
