Why hate on D2's? I moved it back, it looks better.
I'm not sure the make, I'll measure it later for you. Want to buy it. PM me.

The wheels are American Racing Steel wheels, and they are 5x4.75, 16x8, I drilled the holes to fit over the 14mm studs and they go right on. Only 1 out of the 20 keeps digging in and wont stay torqed. I keep them at 100 lbs. That one only loosens every once in a while

Come and take my wheels:cool: ,
The side vents were on there when I bought it. They do go to the air box, which alows for a little more colder air in. POS DII, means what?

If those vents do indeed go to the airbox you better stay out of the water!

Garrett just wishes he had a DII. Don't pay him any attention.

Thats the bad thing about them, if and when I ever get a snorkel, I'll take the hoses out and if I have to go through water also.
Thanks, I dont worry about it just wondering why they hate D2's

Once you build either a d1 or 2's axles, and hd all the other stuff, it cant be much better, and already d2 has 4.6,cdl,ect.. It is shorter in the rear so it has a better departure angle, but if you take a stock d1 vs. d2, who would win? Cant say unless the same skilled driver operates through the exact same obsticle. Possable the design of the d1 axles, tranny, t-case are all better? I dont know, you can build anything.

I think that the axles are much of a much, but probably ultimately a D1 axle can be built a little stronger than a D2's, but not many to ultimate buildups when its cheaper and stronger to swap in other axles which are a better starting point. The D1 and D2 just do some things differently with each doing some things better tha the other. The driveline is very very similar with the D2 having slightly stronger diff centres. The suspension in the D2 is more balanced, but greater outright travel can be had from a D1's.

Ok fine.....you kept asking, so:

1) Watts suspension sucks (plus the shitty SLS fitted on some trucks)
2) Rear overhang along with the POS plastic bumpers
3) Semi-floating axles (this is huge for me)
4) Front hubs are crap (this too is a big one)
5) HVAC sucks
6) Lack of CDL on some years ("oh but you can install......."---oh shut up)
7) Engine/parts can and are a PITA (plugs wires and little things like t-stats, etc)
8) Crappy plastic radiators
9) Fender flares are for douchbags
10) TC and HDC is also for douchbags
11) DII is wider (oink, oink)

Yeh, yeh, yeh you can "fix" all those with time, money, etc. Just like Oprah would be nice looking if she lost 100 lbs.

One day I am sure I will own an '04 DII, but I am putting that off as long as I can. Have I driven or owned DIIs? Yes. Lots of them and they do drive better on road and have more room. But unless you've owned a DI, you'll never understand the love for them and lack of it for the DIIs.

Ok, I understand, nice list. Good thing about my s model, no ace or sls to deal with, but the seats suck. I've delt with a little of those things but still have some of them to do. These are also real expensive to build if you have to buy everything. I would never get what Ive put into it back. I put more in parts and maitnance than what I paid for it.

I have had one D1 and two D2s, and would probably agree with the first part of that statement. I do miss my D1. Very simple, and very capable.

I feel sorry for those without ACE. Its reliable and it works perfectly onroad and offroad. In Aus it was a $4000 option and worth every cent of it IMHO.

edit: Actually, I don't really feel sorry for those without ACE, its just that ACE is a better "best".

I finally got around to mounting this rack better. I put the center cross bar in and bolted up 6 wilderness rack feet, its sturdy, I through all 5 of my old d2 wheels and tires up there to ship them, and carried well. Althought the buyer backed out the rack is better. Only two feet are able to sit over the pillars. Got the latter on too, but the rivnuts they sent are cheesy and wouldnt grab and stripped out, so I need to get some better ones and redo it.
