probably not the most noble of missions but a mission none-the-less

the story, yes every good mission should have a story, anyways the story:

i posted looking for info on a rear table for the D2's rear door and one of the replies showed a mag-lit mounted to the rear door. I liked the idea of having a flashlight mounted right there, but I dont have the mounting brackets. No big deal, just go to walmart and get them right? Wrong, they dont carry them, so i start searching the web, amazon has them but they want $4 to ship a $3 item, bullshit, so i continue searching online...Lowes, Home Depot, K-mart, Wal-mart, Sears, all of the big retailers that Mag-lite lists on their site. None of the stores have this item in stock. I am sure they could order the mounts special, but jesus, its a lot of trouble to go through for a god damn mounting bracket.

Those of you that have a maglite or similar light mounted in your auto, where in christs name did you get the mounts???

where i'm at right now, duh...
Surefire, I've got two and love them both. There are smaller ones that are very bright, but don't cost a lot.

I don't like the idea of putting those big maglites on the rear door where people do. That thing could come flying off the rear door and into the back of a passengers head in a rear end accident.

Surefire and Pelican make nice lights.

They aren't all that expensive. I keep meaning to pick up a 2420 - I will try one of those soon. $20 shipped. I don't own one but want to try one out.

Inova, Fenix, Streamlight, Pelican...

They maybe aren't quite up with the Surefires, but if you're just wanting to use it 8-10 times a year, any of these should do the trick.

I was just suggesting that you might consider using one of these in place of what you are trying to do.

I can appreciate the convenience of having a mounted light.

Regret any confusion.
