If it just happened, consider yourself lucky that the truck did not start. If it starts with water in the cylinders, you will break something, because water does not compress.

Take all the sparkplugs out, then crank the engine until all the water is pushed out. Leave the plugs out for a while to let the water evaporate as much as possible.

Take the air cleaner out, its soaked anyway. Take the MAF out, and clean it with electrical contact cleaner....really give it a good cleaning.

You are also going to have to change your oil. Water probably got in there as well. If the oil is foamy or looks like chocolate milk, it definetly has water in it.

If this is a D1, did the ECU get wet? You may have to tke the ECU case apart and let it dry, then put it back together again.

Put the plugs back on, cross your fingers and crank it.

I parked mine underwater for 2 days... Really, It was in the M.D. Anderson parking garage during tropical storm Allison. This D1 was on one of the lower levels in the parking garage and based on the water line on the concrete it was 11 feet underwater. So I guess that is hydro-parked right? It took about a year to get it running again, so I hope watchdog isn't that bad off....

Excellent suggestion, you can even use rags to accelerate the evaporation of water by soaking up with you can, especially in the manifold. Also inspect other electrical connections to make sure they are dry. As long as you give everything time to dry, you should be ok. Depending on what you did, It takes a lot to actually get water into the cylinders, getting the MAF wet alone will cause you to stall.

If it is hydro-locked, remove the spark-plugs, and turn the engine over by hand. If water comes out of the sparkplug holes, be glad you didn't use the starter because the smack when all of the water has to try coming out of the plug hole can do damage.

A vacuum-pump like one used for replacing brake-fluid or a turkey-baster will help to remove water from the cylinders, then oil the sucker with a squirt or two down each cylinder.

Change the oil, it will be contaminated.

Once you're no longer full of water, you can turn it over with the key if you want. The sooner you get some heat into that engine the better.
