I'm trying to change the bearing of my idler pulley (70mm). But I can't get that damn clip out! Are there any tricks or special tools used to get that clip out? Btw, it is not a circlip.

there should be a small angle on the end of the clip, you need to use a small pic to grab that small angle on the end and pop it out.

you can actually replace it with full c-clips that have holes to grab for future replacement if you like as well.

Next, just buy the whole damn pulley. It's only 10.00 more and saves a lot of cussing.

I just had to replace the bearing in mine. It helped to bend the pointed edges of the ring clip up slightly before trying to pry it out. Wear safety glasses just incase.

I agree with that if it is the smaller pulley because it only costs $20, but the larger one is about $100.

Nope, just the pulley. I'm talking about the drivers side idler pulley, not the passenger side. I know because I just looked up on thursday at work. I can't remember if that was the list price or my price though.

I can't get it off. or the bearing out. I think I need a press or something. I'll call the dealer tomorrow to see how much it is there. It is the smaller pulley, 70mm one.

Got it fixed. There wasn't any clip. It was just a bearing, I had to hammer out the old bearing and put in a new one. funny thing, my other pulley I was fixing was the tensioner pulley. The old tensioner pulley and arm piece was all made by dayco, the one you buy from advanced auto. Maybe it was replaced by the previous owner. Thing is, the previous owner only went to the dealer for maintence, That means the dealer used the dayco parts, or the OEM part used for the tensioner pulley kit is made by dayco.

Was it plastic or metal? If it is plastic you should just replace it with the new updated metal pulley. The plastic ones get flat spots in them.
