Has anyone transformed their 1999 - 2002 Disco II headlights to have the 2003 / 2004 headlights.

I have heard it can be done with installing:

New 03 / 04 Headlights
New molding under the headlights
New Wiring

Just wondering if this is something others have done or know how to complete this, without buying a 03 / 04 Disco.

there was a article in one of the land rover magazines last year on how to do it. they cut out the headlight buckets and installed the newer ones. i think soeone on here has done it by cutting the original ones.

It was quite a popular conversion in the UK, but the theft rate of those light assemblies was unusually high, and there are always a few on ebay with 'slight damage', so you can draw your own conclusions.

Standard headlights are fine if properly adjusted and clean, plus you can get uprated TH bulbs for them.

I did the conversion because I got a set for $120 and the wiring harness for free. I hated how many cracks I was getting in the glass vs. the plastic

I'd pay $120 to go backwards to the old glass headlights. The plastic ones are garbage. They yellow, fade, leak, and fog. They'll make your truck look newer for a few years and then they'll make your truck look old and worn out.

Well you can fix all that, you can't fix a broken glass.
Ugh, what? The glass D1/D2 style headlights take about five minutes to replace. Not to mention I think the breakage rate on the glass ones is quite low. At least I've never broken one.

Mine came with a cracked glass face, but, as you say, it only took 5 minutes to change with an inexpensive used part. That 3-point system on the D1 lamp assemblies with the threaded posts and plastic clips is one of the more brilliant user-friendly designs of the Disco. Although admittedly there's a low bar to clear.
