headgaskets not marked top or bottom

the new composite headgaskets i have do not have the word top stamped anywhere.on one side there is a round metal circle for piston area and on the other the metal circle has webbing that goes around the bolt holes and printed orange stuff around coolant port.which is the top? holes line up either way.1995 RRC.

The side with the orange stuff on it goes up.

or just line it up on the side with the dipstick hole. if it covers it partially then flip it over and there ya go.

Thanks for the input.I was impatient,had a 50/50 chance and put em on friday when everyone was closed. Now i am screwed and have to back up.Dipstick hole is partially covered like you said. Heads are on and torqued down. Is there any chance i can reuse gaskets and bolts if they haven't been run though a heat cycle and everything is new?

if it was steel headgaskets on the older stuff there would be no problem reusing them, but those composite ones deform when you torque the bolts down.

I wouldn't re-use a steel one either.

No way I'd re-use the stretch bolts, just not worth it to risk it and have to do it again.
