I am stealing the motor/trans/transfer and junking the rest but man was the frame soft! 1998, 76K miles Vortec V8 manual 5 speed 4x4. Good parts but I think the body and frame are done. :ack:

Holy f#ck that's bad!!!

Did you buy that from someone who was still driving that on the street?

Oh and what is the motor and trans going in?

I have watched that happen to a 2004 F250, and several others that new as well. New England destroys vehicles at an alarming rate. I like to go to the dealer just to see how rusted the frames are on the brand new zero mileage trucks on the lot. It fawkin sucks.

That's why everyone drives a $500 beater for the winter.

Truck was given to me for hauling it away. Runs new, lot drove fine except for the rear spring shackle sitting against the bottom of the body not attached to the frame. Ha!

The motor trans transfer are going into my boat shop truck. Also a 98 GMC from Virginia and very solid chassis. Had a bad 4l60e trans and when I Pulled it apart to do a rebuild to the automatic the planetary and shells were roasted. Mechanical failure and case damage etc. Plus she has a lot of miles so this running gear will drop in and give her a new life. Plus I like to shift on the road so the 5 speed will be nice.

The motor in the "good" truck still runs excellent so that may get dropped into a project some day. I'm saving the full harness out of the donor truck.

Maybe I'll toss the spare motor into the old '66 Cooper S :)

Damn, my parents are still driving around in a 99 Yukon that probably isn't much better than that. It doesn't have a lot of miles, but we get salt up here too. They can easily afford a new truck but will hang on to this one as long as it runs. The A/C doesn't even work anymore but... they just keep it soldiering on.
