I keep hearing that Goodyear MTR's will be available in 275/65R 18" for the LR3. Does anyone know when they will be available in the US? Also, does anyone know if these tires would fit a stock Disco 2?

i doubt it

I looked at it on the tire size calculator on EE and it measured up to be a 32 inch diameter, as a reference the stock 255/55/18s are 29 inches in diameter and a 265/75/16 is around 31 and a half inches, so i seriously doubt theres anyway to make that fit on a stock DII, sorry

both goodyear and BFG have a multitude of 18" tires on the way to market according to articles in the 4x4 mags.

I am planning to go with some 35 12.50 18's on my DII when it comes time to deck it out.

but that wont be for another few years ...till then I will have to settle with my other trucks

siped 235 85 16 Baja MT's on my D1 ...and 255 55 18 siped yokohama geolander HTS on my DII.

I have been nothing but 100% happy with the baja MT's, they are better then any BFG I ever had. and at $100 a tire they are just a simple decision.

the yokohamas have been perfect in all wet and dry situations but they really are far from good in snow anything more then a few flakes makes you take notice.

the D1 will drive circles around the DII in snow, its not even close.

I never drove on the goodyears in snow...they were toast when I got them but the siped yoko's are really not good at all.

most of it is a product of the aspect ratio, whenever a tires contact patch is wider then it is long it will tend to slide sideways easier.

just like a long ski has less friction then a short one. plus that longer ski has more resitance to side sliding then the short one.

I was checking out www.tirerack.com yesterday, and didn't see anything in muds for 18", but I was looking for something better on snow. If you can believe their ratings, the HP's are average to poor in snow: somthing I agree with completely. The Pirelli's looked to be much better. Anyone have experience with them?

Goodyear Wrangler AT/S?

I e-mailed Goodyear about 18" MTR's, they indicated no plans at this point for the US. They suggested Wrangler AT/S which come in 275/65/R18. Has anyone run this tire? Goodyears website claims a rating of 8 out of 10 for snow and off-road traction.
