fuel + spark = no start ?

Went to start my 95 discovery yesterday and it only cranks. I checked the fuel pump and replaced the fuel filter to insure I was getting fuel. I verified that I am getting a spark but old faithful only cranks, with a occassional sputter. I even tried spraying ether directly into the breather to see if I could get a momentary start, but nothing. My wife is really hounding me to get it fixed and I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

how many miles?

I would crank it to TDC on #1 cylinder then check where the rotor is pointed...might have a really bad timing chain that has jumped?

see my post on page 2 about a 95 won't start. I am having the same problem. I do get spark but it is very weak. My new coil just showed up from UPS this morning. I will put it in later this afternoon. Hopefully it works.
