In an '89 Classic do I need to drop the tank in order to remove the fuel pump? I've seen in pictures that some have a whole in the rear floor, is this the case for the '89's as well? Any help would be great!

On '89's you are supposed to remove the tank. Later models have an access hole in the load space. Some on this board have cut their own access panels.
If you are not doing this as trail repair I don't think it is difficult to remove the tank-it's just 4 bolts. The more time-consuming part is marking, wrapping and disconnecting the several return lines and the fuel line from the pass side. Also, on the driver's side, unplug the pump harness and fuel gauge connections.

An '89 will not have the hole. I've found it to be easier to remove the floor if there is any corrosion on the tank securing bolts.
