Front Drive Shaft Explosion!

 Lately I had begun feeling a vibration coming from the front end of my '95 Disco. (157,000 miles)

Yesterday I was pulling some stumps and had it in 4-low. While turning, I could hear a popping sound. Simple enough, CV Joints.

Today, I'm riding down the road, when a my front end goes to crap. I pull over and find that the front U-Joint had blown apart, with the spinning shaft knocking a dent in my oil pan and a few other interesting things.

I disconnected the front driveshaft, thinking that I could just drive home with the rear one, except that I have no power to the rear shaft.

It worked fine the day before, pulling stumps.

Anybody had any experience with this, or any suggestions? I am starting to put a parts list togeather now.

Thanks,

Mike Cox

As I recall you have to lock the dif in order to do that. If the dif is open the power will go to the least resistance. So the front. With the dif locked it will give power to both no matter what.
