why? that is an awfull lot of work. why not a good used? the motor might work, but i have never tried.

Just checked Radio Shack and the motors were too big or not the right specs. I'll check a local hobby shop. Otherwise I'll just purchase a motor from ebay. I hate waiting!

Anyways, I try not to go used if I don't have to. It's fairly easy so far. I've removed the old motor. Just a matter of finding the right motor.

What were the symptoms that made you decide to replace this part?
I"m curious, because I'm having an issue with my pass. door lock. It won't lock when using the key fob, and makes a strange noise.

All the door locks move up and down w/ the key fob with the exception of the front driver side. I could only lock/unlock the driver side door with the key. Prior to total failure the lock would intermittently fail to move up or down. Don't recall any strange noises.

Search rebuilt a door lock actuator over buying a new one. There is a description of two radioshack motors that will work.

I replaced my motor awhile ago and I got them from eBay.

Actually, I've checked out your page and the information and pics you provided were really helpful. The only diffuculty I had so far in the disassembly was opening the housing. You had indicated "prying" open the housing. I tried a box cutting knife in order to precisely separate the two halves. That didn't seem to work and after knicking my own finger with the blade a couple of times, I ended up using a dremel with a cutting wheel on one side of the actuator housing and then prying the housing apart. Not a clean separation of the housing halves as I would have preferred (at least on the seam I used the dremel on) but it did the job. For my future reference, how did you separate the actuator housing halves?

Now to finding a motor locally. I didn't have any luck after calling several hobby shops around here but I have a lead on a local electronic supply store called Halted in Sunnyvale, CA. They carry Johnson Electric motors as well as Mabuchi brand motors. I like to see before I buy. Anybody out there know which model I need from either Johnson Electric or Mabuchi? A manufacturer number would help greatly.

If they don't stock it, I'll just buy it off ebay from the same seller you bought it from.
