Thanks Lonnie, I used distilled water. We have hard water here and I didn't want to risk mineral deposits. I filled it up last night, drove it today and tomorrow morning after it cools off I'll see if I lost any coolant (and if so, how much).

I followed instructions to fill it up and run the engine til hot, looking for a leak. However I didn't find a leak.

If it is low tomorrow morning, any suggestions (other than take it to my mechanic...HA!)?

Thanks again all.

in the OEM manufacturing world, the gurgle you were referring to is called a "Waterfall" sound. Much is don in the design phases to try to eliminate this. Esentially, it's caused by two things 1- poor coolant flow as a result of coolant line routing/obstruction/pressure 2- air in the lines.

Sound's like everyone hit it on the right mark.

(this may have been solved already but I thought I'd chime in anyway)

Hello, just a newbie here but there is another possibility. There might be an air bubble trapped in the heater core in the dash. In my other world of Toyotas, it was not uncommon to get air trapped in the cooling system when flushing or installing a new engine. I sometimes have to jack the front up in the air to get the radiator as high as possible, run the heat on high, and let it run for a while.
