So when trying to swap the hoses that run from the engine through the firewall to the heater behind the dash i screwed something up.

There is coolant fluid that leaks from behind the dash into the passenger floor board.

How hard a job would it be to get to the heater core and reattach those pipes? They are just a little loose but obviously enough to leak coolant.

For now I have bypassed those pipes but have to heat.

Just wondering how hard a job this might be? Probably have to remove the entire dash to get to it?

It is a horrible PITA

Your best bet is to use ratchet straps to gently pull the dash back and up so you can gain some access. Run them through the sunroof and to the roof rails.

In a DII, there is a glob of glue over the screw that holds the two hoses together and this is ALWAYS a PITA because the screw head is toward the bulkhead and the best I've been able to do is grab the screw with vise-grips to turn it to loosen.

If you get really lucky, you'll be able to access where the heater pipes go into the heater core without havig to remove the entire dashboard, heaterbox, etc.

IIRC, this is where you absolutely must have the correct square cross section o-rings but I could be mixing this up with another model.

Give yourself plenty of time, it's not a job you start in the evening and drive to work the next day and are fit for duty at work!
