Finding oil pressure valve on a DII

Per the guy at D&D and some members here, I need to check the oil pressure relief valve on my DII. The LR workshop manual does not show a pic of it. I tried searching here and others have asked the same question, with no good answer, other than you do not have to remove the crank pully to access it. SO, what do I have to remove to get at the bugger? A picture of what it looks like would be freaking awsome. I sure the fact that the area is covered with oil/dirt is not helping with the identification process:banghead: Thanks in advance.

no sandwich adapter on the D2s. they are made into the front cover. and I think you can get to it from the bottom as well. If you are trying to get to the oil pressure sender then you would most likely want to remove the alternator bracket.

Just an update: The best way to access it is to remove the plastic passenger side engine compartment panel. Its held on by 2 0r 3 8mm screws. The above diagram is not quite complete; the circlip is covered by metal plug that must be punched/pried out. Not sure how important that plug is and have no idea where to get another one. LR does not sell the relief valve parts - only the whole timing cover.

Dont know yet. I have been slow to remove the cap without having a replacement available. I did pull the oil filter adapter, which allowed me to see the relief valve and spring. I sprayed them down with carb cleaner. Also, the O ring for the filter adapter needed replacing, which I did. I need to do a few tests, as the bad O ring may be part of the problem. But if you have a broken cover, I still would like to snag the parts, just in case.

as i recall, you can run without the oil filter neck adapter. but with a regular filter not the wix bigger one often run.

I think that if you pulled the spring out and looked to see if there was any obstruction, you could probably pop it back in and it would work fine.
