SHoot, I hate to say it, but all of them and more. Ive been hanging on a Fiat website lately and its not even close. Lots of group hugs, no-one saying anythign really too funny or thought provoking. The population on this forum are by far the most intersting and diverse I've seen anywhere. There are so many genuine experts here that if you want to know something, you're gonna find out.

Only to be replaced by new blood.

There is still magic afoot in the Land Rover world.

It's just not the same man. It was special back in the early days. Not the "that feels good go faster" special, but a cool special.

We don't get any cross pollination fights with Jeepers coming over to kick dirt in our faces. The bulletin board wars seem to be within Land Rover now and that's just lame.

Maybe people try to hard now. It just seemed to happening naturally back then. Or should I say organically. hah

Times never seem magical until they are seen in retrospect.

I might agree with you PT but Dweb really has become an echo chamber where established technical and political prejudices are the rule of the day with any deviation from those are stomped out en masse.

It has gotten pretty boring really.

I like you Chris, the best reply I have ever read on Dweb was when you said that you had checked your family's manifests and your family had never owned mine. A true classic.

But to the point your encylcopedic knowledge of oil has effectively ended any discussions about it as a subject.

This is not necessarily a bad thing but it does tend to limit the opportunity for changes in the way we do things with our trucks.

EDIT: I like you have been hanging out on different boards, for me it is the Porsche boards. I always thought that porsche owners were pricks but my experience has found that is not the case. They are knowledgable and pretty funny, not as confrontational as Dweb but I like it.

You can still do anything you want to your trucks. I'm not pouring oil in it. All I wanted to do was clear up, as best I could, why one is better suited then another aside from brand loyality and such. And, lemme tell ya, the people who taught me what I know REALLY know some stuff. I'm still trying to grasp it. :)

I wish it were that easy. G's right. It's not the same. Still better than most, but not half of what it once was. Compare the archives to present threads for evidence. I actually don't bother to even check dweb for days at a time now. That was unheard of back then.

Dont get me wrong, I learned a lot from you about oil and that is a good thing. What I like are when Musky and PT get into one of their epic disagreements about whatever, then you really learn some stuff. I like the arguement style of learning better than the lecture style.

Don't forget that I was one of the first banned back in '01 or '02.

I remember the screeds John would write and still remember him telling me I was a cheap fuck for not abusing my corporate Snap-On discount. Kyle's going off on me for trying to let a guy down gently when he probably scrambled the bottom end of his engine. It was particularly fun for me to post the pics of my old beat-up Rolex before it was rebuilt and everybody was trying to impress everyone else with pics of their guns and watches.

Oh yeah, I remember those days, but I wonder if some of our wistful remembrances aren't due to our becoming more knowledgeable on the topic. As much as I hate to quote just about anyone, Mortimer Adler had a great thought on the subject of people who become fanatical about a topic becoming much more critical of the topic and those who are less fanatical. I suspect some of our criticisms are just a natural maturation of one's experiences in the field.

Yeah, I can see that. Those are some of the best threads! :)

Hey wait, You're black?:D

We rarely learn anything when everyone agrees. It takes differing points of view to expand one's knowledge.

Is the disagreement and discussion method of teaching the Socratic method? While I'm not here to lecture or teach, I do try to help as many as much as I can.

I owe a huge debt to a lot of people and am never gonna get that debt paid off.

Man, this thread got FUNNY. Kenneth has my vote for "most interesting man on D-Web", for sure!

...and the rest of you dudes are awesome too. I love the "no-hold's barred" completely uncensored "welcome to thunderdome" style of this place. The only other boards I frequent are the macrumors.com ones, and keep getting in trouble there - maybe you guys are a bad influence. ;) I used to post over on t-nation quite a bit, when I used to lift a lot - you guys would probably love that forum. Every bit as "take no prisoners" as this one. ...at least it used to be. Dunno if it's gotten pussified or not.

I also used to frequent t-nation a ton. Not so much anymore. I still read articles over there, but not the forums.
