After all your due diligence you changed your mind based on a phone call? Did you ever think that because it was an item that was not stocked that the merchant would try to sway your purchasing decision. Hook, Line and Sinker.

Please, please shut up. Your ignorance is overwhelming. This may be how YOU do business, but not those guys. That is Dan's point. They could have sold him something, but didn't. Now, if you called, they would have sold you anything because you are an ass.

I hate going to EE and getting the kind of customer service I get, makes everywhere else I go look like they're slacking.

Why doesn't the Whole Foods guy cook my food?

Why doesn't the guy at the Mac store install my software?

Shopping at EE really just ruins all my other shopping experiences.

So let me get this right. You're a young Chap (no pun intended :D ) who had his eye on a commodity. You did your research (like to revenue numbers for EE) and decided to plop down $600 for a new set of lights (lets not forget the dollar figure 'cause we're in the big leagues now). After all your due diligence you changed your mind based on a phone call? Did you ever think that because it was an item that was not stocked that the merchant would try to sway your purchasing decision. Hook, Line and Sinker.

I'm sure Ho could have had the lights dropped shipped if he wanted to. Besides that, I was in no hurry for my lights. But Ho took the time to talk to me about this and told me that I would be a big chump with two HID's on my truck.

I had seen the lights. I knew about the lights. I still really like the lights. But Ho made some very valid points and yes, that swayed my opinion on the lights. Ho explained things to me I never considered in a light, like the lens. The lens on the HID's is clear, where as the driving and cornering lamps have a "rippled" lens. The stock D1 headlights are also "rippled". So, the 4k cornering and driving light would better match. Also, the red rings on the HID light would look totally out of place...... It's this type of attention to detail EE takes with their customers. I'm sure if I would have told Ho to shut the fuck up and order the lights he would have. But there was no need - I knew where he was coming from and understood it. I bet Eric and Les give you the same treatment when you call AB or RN to place an order.

Don't get me wrong, there is a salesman side of EE, too. Like with the lights, they'll upsale you some rock shields or grills, or some barri nuts. Although Ho refused to sell me a wiring harness because I could do without it.

You can honestly believe that EE did not have the lights in stock if you want. But if someone called you up and wanted $1,200.00 worth of lights, you would find them those lights even if they came from your competitor. It's not about the big $$ sales to these guys - it's about getting the right equipment for the application with strict attention to detail.

back to the approval process and what was previously stated on this page I'm pretty sure DWEB has the same process as EE. I think I remember having to wait for admin approval. so is DWEB exclusive then? someone correct me if i'm wrong?

Dude, I am tired and crashing soon. The rub is not with the quality of service you receive from the vendor. It is with the front end process of getting consumers (like you) to place the phone call. The BB is an extension of EE's core business. If they allienate anyone for any reason, they are allienating potential customers. Simple as that. Rant over. Now give me some nuckles.

It's funny. all these pages and no one pointed out the obvious. the bbs is for EE customers. once you buy something you will get access. this stated on the forum.

The BB is not an extension of the site, it is a place to bullshit. I don't think I've purchased a single thing based off of the bb. So it is in fact exclusive in that regard, consider it as another perk of being a customer.

Last comment is that dweb demographic and EE demographic overlap, i'm sure there is some overlap but is a very small percentage at best.

EE serves a niche market that did not exist online before they carved it out. The strategy is clear and obvious. High quality hand picked merchandise, good advice with excellent customer service for the land rover and overland market.

We're getting closer.

Check 1. Rookie gets his panties in a knot. Reasons for this vary: EE won't give him bulletin board access, intake part for snorkel, etc.

Check 2. Rookie posts on DWeb, trashing EE.

Check 3. Rookie gets schooled.

Check 4. Rookie defends his initial post, framing it as "marketing and customer relations advice".

Check 5. Schooling continues.

6. Rookie claims to be a regular EE customer.

Check
7. ...but never is...

Check 8. EE customers come out of the woodwork to profess their love for John and Ho, telling stories about the great customer service and product advice that they've received from EE.

9. Rookie flees DWeb and finds a happy new home on LRO.

10. Thread spurs EE customers to visit the EE site and purchase.

That was pointed out in the first page or two, and is why I stopped posting in this thread. That was the answer to my question. I wanted to know why I couldn't post, and that was the answer. I recently acquired my own credit card (bought time, i know...) and was transferring money to my parents CC so I could use theirs. Thus the reason why they didn't think I was a customer when I tried to register. Maybe if I give them my info they can see that I have purchased from them.... heck, I have an EE sticker on the back of my truck that proves I've received product from them :p

This is the reason why I wanted to sign up on the BBS. I like to think that my truck is "tastefully" done with no shortcuts or bullshit mods. I'd also like to think that all the accessories/gear I've purchased for it is in the same light. That's why I wanted to become a member over there.... a place with no bullshit mods, no bullshit ideas, and no cheap crap like the wal-mart camping gear you see everywhere.

We should also add;

11. Rookie then PM's the person or persons who schooled him, asking for a truce. Those persons then post the private love letter for all to see.

Step #11 is my overall favorite step.
