I just got back from town 30 miles and suspected my brakes dragging. While in town I checked the brakes for anything obvious and didn't see anything, but with gloves on I grabbed the rotors. The rears damn near burned me and the fronts were cool to the touch. Pads were replaced about 1000 miles ago and I turned the DBA Gold rotors. When I got home I shot the brakes for temps and sure enough the fronts are 50* and the rears (both) at 180*. It's primarily uphill for most of the 30 miles from town. Any advice is appreciated.

Cheers,

Mike

mine did that a while back. I noticed it about 1500 miles after replacing all of the pads and rotors. The pads were gone and eating into the rotors. I ended replacing the rear pads and rotors again as well as new rear calipers/guide pins and brake lines all around.

That probably isn't much help but I think it was the calipers but could have easily been the guide pins messing up. You could try regreasing those.

Thanks Mason. I just got done pulling everything and the left rear rotor is cracked so I guess that is probably the biggest problem. I'll change everything out and see whats up from there. Damn it though when torquing everything back up just to roll it to my upper driveway one of the studs is pulling through. Do you know if the studs are replaceable or am I going to need to replace the entire hub?

Cheers,

Mike

PS didn't spend to much time out there as there is still an ass load of snow on the ground LOL!

You might be able to replace the stud but it would be easier to replace the hub. (You would have to take the hub off anyway to press a new stud in.) There might not be enough room between the mounting flange and the wheel flange to push out the old sud and get the new one in.

I had this same problem and it ended up being gummed up guide pins. I took them all out and cleaned them with steel wool and solvent - then lubed them up with brake lube and reinstalled. You can buy new ones too http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/STC1910.cfm

Thanks. Should have all my parts coming from Will by this afternoon. I just hope I can get the job done before the next round of snow!
