Door lock Actuator Nightmares

My new to me Disco II is giving me nightmares with the door locks. I can't get the passenger front door open because the lock actuator won't relase the catch. It won't open from in and outside.

I need HELP!!

The solutions i have seen are violent. Chiseling out the catch and replacing catch and actuator. I would rather not but if they are no other solutions then i will have to.

Secondly,I want nothing to do with these actuators anymore. Is there some kit to switch to mechanical door locks or something a little less "sophisticated"?

I am indeed at my wits end.

*sigh* Is there anyway to do this without resorting back to these door locks? Or is there anyway to do away with Super Lock.

once you get a new actuator you can get superlocking disabled in the BCU. You can un-superlock the actuator if you can get the door panel off and get to the actuator itself.

I've got two doors that have dead actuators. As soon as I get the parts from Will, gonna have to tackle. I suppose you have to take the door completely apart?

To get the fronts out I just unbolt the bottom of the window frame and maneuver the actuator out.

The easiest way to get the door open when the actuator fails in superlocke mode is to go in from the top with a long screwdriver and beat the piss out of the actuator until the gear for the superlock function fails out of breaks.

for the front you can do that, for the rear you need to unbolt the window guides in order to have clearance room to slide the actuator out.

One rear one failed. I removed the door gasket and it exposed the actuator and allowed me to open with a screw driver. The driver side is really ridiculous though. I will try beating the crap out of the actuator and see if this works.

Before using the chisel, try to get things where they want to be by releasing all of the levers in the door. I see many where things get bound up and releasing everything and lubing, I can get them to work again.

Bashing the door locks apart is not for the faint of heart, I've been surprised I haven't broken any window glass yet. Had to do it three times on an L322/4.4 Range Rover as a local body shop kept messing it up.

Finally got the door open. Had to take out the passenger seat. Then beat the crap out of the actuator, and even then it would not budge. Thanfully with the actuator out of the way i was able to view the latch and then prise it off the catch and the door opened.

Blasted actuators.

Two of my door locks have failed. They can still be opened from the inside. How hard are these to change the dealer wants 300 for each door? should i change these asap so they dont fail in the superlock mode? thanks

So many posts lately on D2 lock problems. I'm sure most do this but how about we all go out and spray some lube in every little hole. Sometimes I take out one of the srews and spary some lube all around.

"ya thats what she said"

What if you just drop it off at the dealer and say "there's something wrong with my door". Seems as if they can't really charge you as much as all this jack-hammering and glass-breaking trouble is worth. They might get it open, and then call you to authorize a slew of overpriced parts to which you can decline and just pay one hour labor :)

Honestly, locking the doors is overrated. This is not the U.K. Thieves here just break the glass. If the doors are superlocked they slip through the window frame (ask how I know). We're the only ones locked out. Icing on my cake was the door they smashed and slid through no longer opens. Twice as nice.
