My 2000 DII keeps taking out the converter boxes for the trailer wiring.

When I bought the truck it had the factory plug cut off and one of the el cheapo walmart converter boxes spliced in. I tried hooking it up to a 4 flat and it didn't work. I bought my self a new one spliced it in and every thing worked cool.

Then that one went out and I bought a new trailer that needed a 7 round anyways. So this time I spliced in one of the powered Modulite brand ones. I ran the power and ground right from my distribution box under the hood that I use for rack lights and amp.

It worked for 2 months and went out so I got the place to exchange it. I spliced in the new one last October it worked fine. Went to get out the pop up yesterday and the new one is out again.

Heres the symptoms: never blows out the 10amp fuse for the modulite converter box. I still have R/L turn signals and brake lights. The only thing that wont work is the tail/marker lights. I have the brown wire on the modulite spliced into the orange/red stripe one on the truck. I checked where the modulite is spliced into the orang/red wire on the truck and there's power there so I know the modulite box is getting the juice.

It's just annoying that it works for a couple of months and then stops for no apparent reason. I would like to be able to tow the pop up at night. At this point I'm pretty sure the truck is the problem with this many boxes installed. Has any one seen this before?
