OK, found out that stock is 32 spline, Ashcroft is 24 spline.

i wonder if RCV will make them 30 spline to match the toyota splines? making it even cheaper to do the shafts?

The front kit would need to use the Ashcroft CV's, the stockers are indeed 32 spline same a stock D1. At one point Dave Ashcroft was okay with selling CV's individually and indeed that woudl be cheaper than buying his whole kit.

Always is..

Let me drop in for a hijack..

Really all Michael is trying to do is drum up interest for a D2 Toy conversion for me.

I've built one and it's been properly flogged then ripped apart and checked.. It's looking good o I am willing to offer it up as a kit, if there is enough innterest it can become cheaper for all.

I'd be out here doing it myself but I'm mighty tied up with a couple other projects and have run out of time.

On the E Locker note.. I have one in the front of my D1, it's not fast but it has been reliable, roughly 2x the time to lock as compared to an ARB.. Wiring isn't to hard with the help of the guys at inchwormgear, they have a nice kit with a good diagram.

That's it ... let the carnage continue.

Yup, I bought my wiring harness and control kit form Inchworm.

here's my wiring setup....

and this is what i bought...

I hate electronics and if I can do it, it's not hard...

im still trying to decide if the fj80 swap is a better idea....

still need a rear diff either way...

well i guess you'll just need to let me know. without you we would need one more person to hit the $650 price tag, otherwise it will be more expensive.

cheers,
Michael.

I wonder if the tacoma 8.4 rear diff would fit in the rover housing? it has a way stronger bearing girdle

This diff cannot be fitted to an older style 8" axle because it uses a larger diameter mounting bolt pattern and because more space inside the housing necessary to accommodate the large bearing cap. The different bolt pattern also makes it very impractical to swap in an electric locking Toyota diff (the whole mounting flange would have to be re-done using a special jig).
