Having some electricle problems in '00 Disco. Going to work yesterday morning on southbound 101, when the red battery light came on and the (M)&(S) lights started flasing and then my headlights dimmed. I assumed the obivious that, my alternator was bad, so I pulled it at work and took it in to the parts store and it checked out fine. It passed all three of their tests. So, not wanting to leave without some sort of way out when I get back to work, I bought a battery just in case. Got back to work and put the alternator back in and tested the vehicle before installing the new battery. Long story short, the old battery had a reading of 8 and it was three years old with some minor corroding. Installed the new battery and happy that I did, because it seemed to work great, but as I was heading back home on 101N, the red battery light came back on but no flashing (M)&(S) lights . So, now I'm kinda mad for forking out a good amount of cash'ola and now it may be nearly dead. Now i'm clueless as to what it may be.

I'm sending this thread from home, but I'll be reading from work, so I can't reply until I get back. Thanks for your input in advance.

Sounds to me more like an intermittent failure of one of the main electrical connections. Check the connectors on the battery, the connection to the alternator and the big-ass fuses in the electrical box. They might be burning out or loose. You might also try re-seating the larger fuses in there.
