Ben it might be cheaper to have Moser build you a set of 24 spline axles to go with the RRC rear hubs. Although you won't have ready access to spares.[/QUOTE]

he already has rovertrack HD rears and the spare hub/spindle etc parts though....when i went 24 spline I put in the 24 spline GBR/Mosers into my non abs 10 spline rear and it was plug and play..

Why did LR have to make this so complicated? I'm going to have to look into the HD CV thing. When i swapped to the pre abs classic balls i threw in a set of stockers. I'll have to throw in my HD's and see if there's a clearance issue.

I hear ya Steve. I must be the only one who didn't know there was a dramatic difference in ABS vs. non ABS. Oh well...:p

I think I've got everything I need for the rears Steve but thanks for the advice.

Yup, you had to do it the easy way Danny boy :D

By the way, I'll be by in a bit to grab your hub nut tool. I'll be wrenching at probably 4-5 tomorrow morning ;)

LOL Matt... Nah for about the past 1-2 months I've been waking up automatically at either 4:15 or 4:45... Give or take 5 minutes. Strange... strange.

I'm not so sure you are wrong, Steve. I've never checked the swivel balls for clearance with the HD CV's and it's been several years since my conversation with Bill Davis. I hope you are correct.

Getting ABS rear hubs can't be very difficult or expensive-there's plenty of parts trucks around.

I agree re: the spares issue. When wheeling with Jack, John or Sheki, it's nice to know we can share spare axles.

I did this swap on a 91 Rangie and I took the parts from a 95 Disco. All I did was plug and play with the third, axles and hub flanges. The thing has been working great with no problems. Maybe it was just dumb luck?! :D

On my '92, I swapped to 24 spline in the rear when I installed the ARB. The axles I got dropped right in, no problems. I thought they were from a D1, but they may have been from a Defender.

Ok, my rangie is locked and loaded. Rovertracks rear axles with a detroit, hubs drilled/ tapped to 7/16 with grade 8 hardware. Front has longfields with a truetrac, hubs/ flanges tapped to 7/16 with grade 8 hardware. For good measure... :p

Ok, so my question was what is needed to do the 24 spline swap on a 10 spline RRC.

Here's the answer.

Rear:
DI Hubs
Spindles
1/8in washer (butts up against the outer bearing)

Rear also does not utilize the outer grease seal like the RRC hubs do. Rear can also maintain utilization of all stock brake components.

Front:
DI Hubs
DI Spindles
1/8in washer (butts up against the outer bearing)
Axle Circlip
Outer Axle Spacers/ shims
Axle Flange
Dust Caps
Front also does not utilize the outer grease seal like the RRC hubs do. Front can also maintain utilization of all stock brake components.

EDIT: Thanks to Marc for baby stepping me through setting up the DT and TT. Also thanks to Bill and Shawn at GBR for hooking me up with the hubs, spindles, washers, seals, bearings and one shots. ;)

It's roughly 1/8 thick. Here is a pic of what is needed for the front. Also, the washers aren't keyed, they are flat on one side on the inside. It's #10.

sweet Ben, did you end up using the drilled swivels from Justin?

The parts are coming in like Christmas over here for the zuk. Hopefully i'll be able to start it early Nov. Won't be much of a zuk anymore though. :)

Hey Steve, I didn't end up using them. I sold them to Peter ;) I had a conversation with Steve from Rovertym before selling them and decided at the time, the money was more important to help finish my engine.

Nice on the ZuK :D I need to see pics...
