There are a few cool ones around Alexandria lately.

There are better spots than Hard Times to hang out at that's for sure.

Old Town is pretty boring overall and yes Hard Times is hardly the "place". Even Shirlington is more happening. hah I'm in DC/NoVA at least a few times a month - I prefer Clarendon and Adams Morgan. Tons of great restaurants and some cool bars minus the dbagness of Georgetown. I'm getting too old for all of it.

If you haven't been to Mosiac District (near Fairfax), check it out. A few really good restaurants there. True Food for dinner and Ted's Bulletin for dessert.

Yeah Old town is hit or miss, some days its happening others its depressing.

I will have to check out Mosaic District, I need a break from the usual places.

Adams Morgan is good - Dan's Cafe, Madam's Organ, Black Squirrel (upstairs for food, down for beer) and many others. Some great Indian food too. It's way more laid back and night time is plenty good. Same goes for Clarendon, but it's a big younger and more Georgetownish with the crowd. But still not too young and some great bars - Iota (great bands), Carpool (for tv and big crowds), Citizen, Don Tito (people watching/ladiezzzz), World of Beer (if you're into that kinda thing), Front Page (if you wear Vinyard Vines), etc. Something for every body there.

We usually get a room near the court house and stay the night.

Mosiac isn't huge, but it's something new and True Food is a good spot. Good drinks, food and people watching. The mexican joint across from the parking garage is solid too. Ted's has home made pop tarts that make me happy and they have a pb&j burger that is actually really good. Sounds odd, but it's one way I keep my amazing figure.

I belong to the Eagles. $2 Fat Tires and $6 burger platter. Fucking awesome. Not to mention the doorbell to get in is pretty exclusive.

It's where the Middleburg Biker Gang hangs out.

They also do a lot of fund raising for scholarships and veteran programs - locally.

Dan and Garrett, and others, thanks for your constructive as usual replies . I live in OT, hence the question. I personally do not find it boring at all; tons of things to do, everything is close by and a few bars that I dig. I hate, hate, hate Hard Times; place is a damn dump with crappy food and shitty beer selection. Not being a snob here, just don't dig the environment. Been around the Mosaic District quite a few times (Sea Pearl is a good restaurant), as well as other DC areas; love the Mosaic district but would still rather hang out in OT since everything is within walking distance.

Just might be there tomorrow as I drop the kiddo off in Arlington. Sea Pearl looks fancy!

If I lived in Old Town I'd stick around too - far more to do than where I live, but when I come to town I have my particular areas. Chad even mentioned wanting to live in Middleburg after a few visits. Riiight.

I might be able to hang around Brasstown or something. Learn to make pottery and grow weed, sell some molly and cocaine on the side. Other than that I've never been to an area south of where I am now where I could see myself living.

I'll be the first to admit everyone lives in the best state. Brasstown? Been to Murphy and it's pretty nice. Western NC is Ok, I prefer the east though oddly enough.

I like visiting the beach sure enough. Just don't think I could live there. I like the mountains.

However candidly, I have been looking for a vacation/retirement home/property in Charles City, VA, right on the river.

I'm just not a fan of the big cities. I lived in Atlanta for a while and it was fun for about 6-weeks. Then it sucked ass. Traffic, assholes, black people stealing my plastic lawn chairs.... Stayed in a condo in Mid-Town for a bit bordering Piedmont Park. That was a nice area. Never had to drive anywhere because everything was within walking distance. But it still sucked. Nice to visit, but sucks to live in. Lots of swingers there.

I go to DC about every month for business. I hate that place. I have family in old town and that does not make it any better. Traffic to get there and traffic to get out. Fuck that. It's no wonder why all the people who live there are assholes and whiny little pussies.

DC is America's armpit. My blood pressure and pulse rise the second I arrive there. Let's not even mention Baltimore.

I like High Point because I'm in the middle of 3 semi-large cities. 20 minute drive to all three. I'm still in the woods (country, lots of horse farms) and have the states largest farmers market and 9 hole golf course 5 minutes from my house. And low crime (here), not really tolerated.
