I got one of the dash kits for a '96 D1. Will I need to cut the back part of the gauge cover to make it fit correctly?
When I put mine in I didn't. One of the tabs on the back (windshield) side of the guage cluster was broken, the strip holds it securly now.
I trimmed mine. I scraped/carved it out to match the gauge cluster curve.
The cluster now slips under the edge. It was a PITA, but looks pretty good. If your dash edge is curling up badly, consider screwing it down first before the kit. BTW, I used black drywall screws for mine.
