Damn AC/Heater Fan Noise!

After 120 miles wheeling across AZ today with this damn thing squeaking like a cricket on speed for most of the way, am I looking at trapped debris or a new fan unit?

Damn thing squeaks until I crank up the fan a little, then it goes away.

problem is, on AUTO, it always ends up back in the 'zone' squeaking away like a good'un

So, when I pull the underside on the dash tomorrow, is there a possibility that there's crap in the cabin air intake causing this, or am I looking at a replacement part?

Any experience much appreciated.

You will probably find crap in the fan. No big deal, and if your fan is cracked, you're halfway to havin g the job done.

I pulled the fan on the passenger side because of the same noise. Only took about 10 minutes, and there were several leaves in there. Since brushing that off, the sound hasn't come back (knock on wood)...
